They still continue to manufacture some of there incredibly well know patterns, this including Alana, Colleen, Lismore, Maeve and Tramore. The crystal is now manufactured in Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Germany, where other eastern European brands of cut glass crystal are more common these days. Waterford Crystal is no longer produced in Ireland and some would somewhat argue that this may have affected the quality of crystal produced now compared to previously. Looking at the quality of the crystal today, we are able to see just why this name gained such mass popularity in the public. Waterford Crystal has gained a significant name in the world of cut glass crystal and this is due to the techniques of their cuts and the craftsmen they had employed across the number of years they were active in producing their own crystal glassware. The Waterford crystal glassware was significantly popular due to the quality of the glass itself, but also the quality of the cut in the crystal glass was very popular and eventually brought further value to Irish crystal as a whole. It was only up and until the late 1990’s and the turn of the millennium where Waterford began to bring out the range of glassware we tend to find today in our collections. In the 1950’s the company gained a major stake holder in Irish Glass Bottle, owned by Joseph McGrath. Ireland at the time was going through a difficult time and businesses during this phase found the task of growing and establishing significantly hard. He quickly established himself and gave Waterford the reputability it has today- one of the best cut glass crystal manufacturer in Ireland. The actual period of the rise of the Waterford Crystal brand came a century later by a Czech gentleman Charles Bacik who had Irish roots into his family. Unfortunately at the time their company was not the empire it is today and was shortly closed (1850’s) after initial beginnings.
